ESMA’s initiatives towards simplification and burden reduction

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) is working to support the European Commission to simplify and reduce the reporting burden in the financial sector.
This initiative includes eliminating duplicative reporting obligations and streamlining reporting for market participants. ESMA's efforts aim to maintain financial stability, orderly markets and investor protection while reducing costs and complexity for companies.
The first areas of focus will be transparency and volume cap regimes, transaction reporting, and digitalising sustainability and financial disclosure.
