GRI Issues Standard for Mining Sector
GRI has published the GRI 14: Mining Sector 2024, the first global standard to address the sustainability impacts of the mining sector. The new GRI Standard reflects broad stakeholder demands for transparency and enables any mining company to use a common set of metrics to report their impacts. This Standard applies to all organizations engaged in mining and quarrying, including exploration and extraction, primary processing, and related support services (with the exception of coal, oil and gas, for which GRI Sector Standards are already available).
GRI 14 goes into effect for reporting in 2026, with early adoption encouraged. The Standard is used together with the GRI Universal Standards and the GRI Topic Standards.
